Earth from a unique perspective. The U.S. space agency (NASA) has selected their best photographs of our planet to show how things look from up there. Taken by their spacecraft or the astronauts, the fifty images have been gathered to mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, celebrated on Thursday.
The pictures show various aspects of the planet from erupting volcanoes-some of these snapshots are very famous, even the beauty of the desert or an island in the Bahamas. Similarly, NASA has captured the terrible effects of some natural phenomena like hurricanes or earthquakes. Also seen the night lights of the northern hemisphere or the plume of smoke over the Twin Towers in New York after the attacks of 11-S. But the images that touch our heartstrings get are those that show the fragility of our little “blue ball” from the Apollo spacecraft.
