The downtown Dallas has undergone an extraordinary transformation over the last several years, punctuated by a landmark bridge, the opening of the AT&T Performing Arts Center and Perot Science Museum, and the new Klyde Warren Park.

Now the city is welcoming the latest addition to its booming tourism and entertainment landscape: The Dallas Wine Tours.

Launched last month by the owners of the widely popular and award-winning Grapevine Wine Tours, the new tours are shining a light on some of Dallas’ best-kept secrets: Five award-winning wineries and a growing array of wine-themed establishments, each of which contributes to a rich tapestry that has developed largely unnoticed over the last decade or so.

“Our new Dallas tours offer our guests the opportunity to sample some of the most exceptional wines produced in the Great Southwest while having a fun, relaxing time with friends old and new,” says Nancy Childs, co-owner of the multi-city tour operator. “We were as surprised as most people to learn that Dallas was home to such outstanding wineries, so we’ve been preparing to expand from our Grapevine base for more than a year.”

Daily excursions rotate among the five premier wineries – Calais Winery, Fuqua Winery, Inwood Estates Vineyards, Times Ten Cellars and Two Corks & A Bottle. Wines produced by these Dallas-based vintners can be ordered at many of the swankiest restaurants in Texas, and across the country.

On some tours, trend-setting wine bars such as The Alcove, Max’s Wine Dive, Veritas and Vino 100 are integrated into the itinerary.

“We’ve adopted a slightly different model from our normal routine in Grapevine because none of the wineries in Dallas operates a full-service kitchen,” said Childs. “So instead of serving lunch or dinner with every tour, we are visiting a fourth winery and serving appetizers, hors d’oeuvres or desserts at each stop. We are also happy to cater in full meals from excellent local restaurants for groups that prefer a sit-down meal with their tour.”

Several tours have been conducted since the “soft launch” in May, and guest reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. The wineries also appreciate the extra attention.

“We’ve watched from afar as the Grapevine Wine Tours exploded in popularity and we’ve waited patiently for them to gear up to run tours in Dallas,” said Lee Fuqua, owner and chief winemaker at Fuqua Winery and president of the Dallas Winery Association. “We’re thrilled that they’re finally operating here and I have no doubt, from the reaction we’ve seen from their initial guests, that they are going to be a huge success. After all, we think we make the best wines in Texas right here in Dallas.”

Typical Dallas Wine Tours feature four stops where expert hosts pour and describe multiple wine tastings, which are paired with an array of cheeses, meats, desserts or other light food. A professional tour guide picks up and returns guests to downtown Dallas hotels in an eye-catching, climate-controlled tour bus. Afternoon excursions include a brief tour through downtown Dallas’ lively Arts District, Dealey Plaza and other popular attractions.

As in Grapevine, the four-hour excursions are available every day, though only afternoon tours are offered on Sundays.

Dallas Wine Tours are perfect for corporate team-building, convention excursions, anniversary and birthday celebrations, bachelorette parties and Girls Night Out, fundraising events or just a break from the ordinary dinner-and-a-movie night. Equally popular among out-of-town visitors and locals alike, each tour provides a fun and unique experience in one of America’s most vibrant cities.

The skin is the body’s largest organ and when it soaks up the sun, it helps produce Vitamin D, which is vital to maintaining a healthy calcium balance, immunity, blood pressure and insulin secretion.

“When skin is exposed to the sun for extended periods of time repeatedly, however, the risk can far outweigh the reward,” said Rajiv Datta, MD, Medical Director of South Nassau Communities Hospital’s Gertrude & Louis Feil Cancer Center.

That’s because excessive sun exposure puts an individual at great risk for skin cancer. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with more than 3.5 million skin cancers in over two million people diagnosed annually. In addition, the number of new cases of skin cancer diagnosed each year in the U.S. exceeds the combined diagnoses of new cases of breast, prostate, lung and colon cancers.

Besides sun exposure, other risk factors for skin cancers include having many moles; having a fair complexion; and a personal or family history of skin cancer.

If you enjoy basking in the sun, whether sun bathing, gardening, playing a round of golf or even attending your child’s sporting events, Dr. Datta advises following sun safety steps recommended by the American Academy of Dermatologists (ADD):
• Minimize exposure to the sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
• Apply sunscreen, with at least a SPF-15 that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, to all areas of the body exposed to the sun
• Reapply sunscreen every two hours, even on cloudy days
• Wear clothing that covers the body and shades the face
• Avoid exposure to UV radiation from sunlamps or tanning salons
• Have an annual skin cancer screening

The three types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma, which is the deadliest form of skin cancer. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer and it usually shows up on the face, ears, scalp, neck, or upper body as a red patch; a pink, red, or white bump that is shiny or pearly; a crusty, open sore that will not heal; or a scar-like area. Squamous cell carcinomas account for about 2 out of 10 skin cancers and commonly appear on sun-exposed areas of the body such as the face, ear, neck, lip, and back of the hands. Squamous cell carcinomas often look like warts or open sores with a thick, rough, scaly patch that can bleed if bumped. They tend to be more aggressive than basal cell cancers and are more likely to be found in men than women.

As the deadliest form of skin cancer, melanoma requires aggressive and skillful treatment. Malignant melanomas are usually small brown-black or larger multicolored patches, plaques or nodules with irregular outline. They may crust on the surface or bleed. Many of them are found in pre-existing moles.

“Approximately 90 percent of all skin cancer patients are treated surgically,” said Dr. Datta. “Our team of surgical oncologists combines patient-centered treatment plans with leading-edge surgical technologies to remove skin cancer.”

Women and Alcohol

It is often quoted that females have a lower tolerance to alcohol than males and this is an indisputable fact but few people ever go on to tell exactly what the affect is and why. Hopefully this article will help shed light on exactly what happens when you drink alcohol and why you often do things that you regret later. Also give some insight into what alcohol actually does to the brain. This is not an anti alcohol article, it is presented in the hope that knowledge will influence attitude. The fact that this article is being published at the height of the Christmas/New Year festive season is coincidental; it contains valuable knowledge that is useful at all times.

Alcohol is a testosterone stimulant and the affect it has on women is based upon the fact that testosterone is not the dominant hormone in the female make-up, therefore they are usually unable to control the affect of testosterone as men do on a daily, even hourly, basis. Dealing with the bravado that testosterone produces is not a common experience to a woman and therefore they rarely know how to cope with it. This explains why they are more prone to carrying out acts that are normally not in their nature when drinking. The stimulation of testosterone initially makes them loud as the bravado affect kicks in; a feeling of invincibility that leads them to drop all inhibitions follows this. If there is a dance floor they are liable to seek it as a challenge to dance with a view to drawing self-attention. They meet with strangers when stimulated testosterone has them feeling invincible and there is no need for me to point out the dangers that this can create.

As the affect of alcohol dwindles and the real self re-appears there is true self-doubt regarding what they may, or may not, have done and whether they can face the people they were celebrating with again. This is caused by the lack of testosterone stimulation and the reassertion of the true personality as opposed to the testosterone induced personality that occurs whilst drinking.

The other affects that leave terrible hangovers to contend with are so well known that I will not go into them in this article. Hopefully if you have knowledge concerning why you become vulnerable while drinking you will be more careful concerning the quantity that you drink; especially when you are not in the home environment with trusted family and friends around you.

To have a drink can be fun, just be aware of what happens to your body and mind when you have too many. The stimulation of testosterone starts with the first sip.

A hangover is the result of alcohol dehydrating your body. Try to drink at least a quart (1 liter) of water between drinking and bed to help re-hydrate your body.

Alaska is truly a special place, it has been said that the people that chose to live in Alaska are trying to run away from something and avoid it, or that these people are trying to get as far away from society as they possibly can. Alaska is still, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful states in the USA. The impressive mountains, the snow and ocean power make many people come visit Alaska to see and experience it first hand, you will be surprise to learn how many people choose Alaska as their vacation destination.

This place is chosen because of its difference form anything else, it is unlike any other state in the U.S., and in fact it is unique to anywhere else in the world.

Many people who experienced the close contact with the Alaska glacier will tell you that it is an experience unlike any other and that the visit to the glacier is a close look at something amazing, most of the people who just looked at a glacier form far away are not aware of this since they have not seen the glacier from that close, it is truly a once in a lifetime experience. The numbers talk for themselves, as many tourists to Alaska as flocking to the Alaska glacier cruise.

Unfortunately the weather conditions and some new threats are making the glaciers something that needs to be seen now, and not something that we can assume will always be there for us to visit, the global warming effect is just starting to claim it very high toll on the glaciers and because of its effect we know that many glaciers are losing great parts and melting into the ocean. Other problems that raise a serious concerned for the glaciers are new decisions by the U.S. congress makes difficult decisions about the right to drill in glaciers. This situation causes some people to go and see the wonder before it will be gone, or even out of a great concern to the environment.

The way to travel to the glacier by cursing next to it and slowly observing every activity that is happening around it or on it is just perfect, not only perfect it is the natural way to observe these giants since they also have a rhythm of their own, and not rushing to watch the whole glacier as fast as possible will provide you with a much more fulfillment than any other way. This travel method does cost a little more and demands more time, but it is certainly worth it.

There is a very good chance that in your cruise you will witness very special events that take place on the ground, Alaska has an abundance of wildlife and seeing the wild animals in their natural habitat, behaving as they would weather or not you would have been cruising in a considerable distance from them is something as unique as the glacier visits.

In conclusion, the Alaska glacier cruise has something unique to offer, it can be a special vacation for you and you family, the cruise itself is an experience and the glaciers are phenomenal, enjoy this remarkable way to travel and you will not forget it for the rest of your life.

The house of Mario has dependably depended on nexus characters and arrangement to prod its equipment, however with the Wii U performing inadequately at retail, Nintendo required a disruptive wow minute to rekindle excitement for what is an intriguing support. It never came.

Pick of the pack was Super Mario 3d World, a four-player Mario exploit that imparts progressively in as something to be shared to 3ds title Super Mario 3d Land than Super Mario Galaxy. It could be pitilessly judged as a stop hole after the expected Galaxy catch up, with Nintendo guaranteeing there is a 3d Mario diversion for Wii U’s Christmas. Yet as stop-crevices go, this is a delightful one.

Much like 1989′s Super Mario Bros. 2, every character has their own particular peculiarities and capacities, Mario’s your everything rounder, Luigi’s more tricky however can bounce further and higher, Peach is moderate yet can skim over holes, while Toad is a nippy small fella whose squat legs mean a shorter bounce.

Get one of these brilliant treats, and your character will wear a cute feline suit, ready to flash off on each of the fours at a trot and utilize the hooks to scale sheer surfaces. The liveliness is delightful and the force up includes a legitimate feeling of verticality to the level configuration.

You can store your computer data in several different ways. Data can be stored on removable disks, hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and other types of media. Even though there are several ways that you can store your data, at some point in time the electronic or mechanical device is bound to break down, resulting in a loss of data. Even though the device may work good for years, it can always break down when you least expect it, with no way to avoid it.

Hard drives are the most common way to store data, although they are mechanical devices and can break down or crash at any time. When they crash, you’ll normally lose all of your data, which can put you in quite a bind. To be on the safe side and keep yourself protected, you should always have a backup plan, such as an external hard drive.

An external hard drive is very handy to have around. You can store any type of file on it, including music and pictures. Most people use them for videos, as they can store a lot of videos. You can get them in many different sizes, going as high as 500 GB. If you have a lot of video on your computer that is taking up a lot of much needed space, you can easily transfer it to an external hard drive and free up some of your space.

On the data recovery side of things, external hard drives are a great solution. You can back up your entire hard drive on them, even a mirror image. Most external drives are FireWire or USB compatible and will work with most computers. To use an external drive all you need to do is connect it to your computer. Then, using the software that came with the device, you can begin to transfer your data and files.

If you have a big hard drive, you’ll want to get a bigger external hard drive. If you are transferring your entire internal hard drive to the external drive, it may take you a few minutes. You can also add files and such along the way as well, if you get newer files to add. Backing up your entire hard drive to an external drive is a very smart idea, especially if your area gets a lot of electrical storms.

Once you have backed up all of your data to an external hard drive, you can rest assured that your information will be there when you need it. External drives don’t crash, for the simple fact that they aren’t in use until you need them. They will last you many years as well, which makes them great for pictures and other precious files. If you own a business, you may find them to the best way to store your business documents and other files that relate to your company.

All in all, external hard drives are the perfect way to create a back up of your data. Once you have your data backed up, you’ll be ready for anything that happens to your internal hard drive. In the event of a crash, you can use your external hard drive and transfer the data back to your hard drive, and be back up and running in no time at all. External hard drives take all of the guess work out of the data recovery process – and may also save you the trouble of having to send your hard drive off to be repaired.

An effective approach to managing skin allergies has three components. Firstly you must understand the condition, then you must discover if anything is triggering your skin reaction, and thirdly you must look after your skin.

Many people think that allergies only affect the respiratory or digestive systems, but they can also affect your largest organ- your skin. As with other allergies the immune system overreacts to the presence of certain substances and releases inflammation-producing chemicals. Do some research and talk to your doctor. You can be confident of controlling your skin condition better if you are sure you understand what causes it.

The second component in managing a skin allergy is identifying then eliminating the allergens and irritants that start the itching/scratching cycle. There are over three thousand known triggers for skin allergies. Many are natural, but there are plenty of man-made ones too.

A common man-made trigger is latex, which comes from the sap of the Brazilian rubber tree. The natural proteins and those added in the manufacturing process can trigger an allergic reaction. Most people are aware that this can lead to reactions if you wear latex gloves. However latex is also present in baby pacifiers, balloons, pencil erasers and elastic bands in undergarments. There can also be problems when latex particles become airborne and are inhaled. If you have a latex allergy try to avoid the material and use vinyl or plastic where possible.

Nickel is another trigger. In addition to the obvious nickel-containing metallic objects like coins and jewelry, nickel is also present in everyday objects like scissors, bathroom and kitchen cabinet handles, and zippers. Mascara, eye shadow and eye pencils also contain nickel. Experts estimate that the number of people suffering from a nickel allergy has risen about 40% in the last decade. Much of this is believed to be due to the popularity of body piercing. Some foods also have natural nickel content and people who suffer severe symptoms may need to restrict their diet under medical supervision. At present there is no way to desensitize a person with a nickel allergy. Avoidance is the best strategy.

The third component of effective management is looking after your skin. The easiest thing to do is to keep your fingernails short to reduce the damage caused by scratching.

Managing your skin’s condition means firstly moisturizing and softening the skin to ensure it does not dry out. Your doctor may recommend you use topical corticosteroid preparations to control the inflammation.

When you take a bath soak in lukewarm water for 20 to 30 minutes. Do not have hot baths or showers, as the heat will increase skin dryness and itching. You can add oatmeal or baking soda to the bath for a soothing effect, though it does not help moisturize the skin.

Use a mild soap or a non-soap cleanser with neutral pH (pH7). If you wish to add bath oils do so after you have been in the water so that it can seal in the moisture. Do not use bubble baths as they can form a barrier that stops the bathwater moisturizing your skin.

After the bath dry yourself by patting your skin with a soft towel. This helps retain moisture. Immediately after drying your skin apply a lotion or emollient cream to help your skin retain the moisture.

To look after your skin you will also need to avoid situations where you will experience extreme physical contact, heavy perspiration, or heavy clothing. This may mean avoiding some sports. Swimming is permissible if you rinse the chlorine from your skin as soon as you leave the pool, and use a moisturizer after drying yourself.

Follow these three steps and you will be able to control your skin allergy and minimize its impact on your everyday life.

Andalucia is probably one of Spain’s most varied areas with its mountainous regions leading down to the Costa del Sol, Costa Tropical, Costa de Almeria and to the far west bordering Portugal, the beautiful Costa de la Luz. It is ideal for a holiday in winter as well as summer as there is skiing in the Sierra Nevada.

An Andalucia vacation has much to offer from its National Parks to a visit to Jerez for some sherry tasting. Also not to be missed are a day out to the wonderful city of Granada with its Alhambra Palace, Jaen or similarly Cordoba which also has much Moorish history.

The white towns (pueblos blancos) named because of the Moorish tradition of whitewashing the buildings are a glance back in time to traditional Spain. Towns such as Ronda, Gaucin and Jimena de la Frontera to name but a few.

Inland, rural Andalusia has three wonderful cities to explore, namely Cordoba, Granada and the capital of the region – Seville. In addition to these historic cities with their Moorish past, there are many traditional and picturesque whitewashed villages to visit, as well as nature reserves or simply walking or hiking in the scenic countryside.

Western rural Andalusia is home to the wonderful city of Ronda. It has a spectacular setting being located on a huge outcrop of rock. It is also famous for its bullring, which is the oldest in the country. The Punte Nuevo – ‘the New Bridge’ spans the gorge and links the old part of Ronda with the new. This part of Andalusia is also home to the whitewashed villages – pueblos blancos – of Gaucin, Jimena de la Frontera as well as picturesque towns and villages such as Alhaurin el Grande, Alhaurin de la Torre and Coin. Also in this area near the village of El Chorro is the geographical wonder of the Garganta del Chorro, a vast natural chasm in the limestone mountain. The national park of El Torcal is also popular with walkers, hikers and nature lovers.

In the east of the Malaga region Antequera is a busy market town within easy reach of Malaga for a day trip. It is a more traditional town and is well known for producing olive oil. It is possible to walk around the walls of the 13th century hilltop castle from where there are wonderful panoramic views over the surrounding area.

Some of the smaller rural villages in this area are Villanueva de la Concepcion, Alcaucin and the pretty white village of Competa. Here and in similar villages you will find a wealth of culture and a taste of real Spain. We have many holiday fincas and cortijos to rent as well as charming village houses all set in rural andalucian locations, yet the sea in most cases is within an hours drive. If you are looking for a vacation rental to get away from it all, then this is the area of choice.
